Choosing the right glass is an important part of a glass railing project. Two common options are tempered glass and laminated tempered glass. The better choice depends on the railing system, project requirements and glass specification.

Tempered Glass

Tempered glass is heat-treated to improve its strength and resistance to thermal stress. It is available in different thicknesses and is used with many glass railing systems.

Our all glass railing systems, for example, can support options such as 12 mm, 15 mm and 19 mm tempered glass, depending on the system.

Laminated Tempered Glass

Laminated tempered glass consists of two glass layers bonded with an interlayer. If the glass breaks, the interlayer helps retain the broken glass in place, which is an important consideration for railing applications.

Common configurations for our railing systems include 6+6, 8+8 and 10+10 laminated tempered glass, with the exact options depending on the railing system.

Which One Should You Choose?

The choice should be based on the railing system, glass size, installation method and project requirements rather than glass type alone.
